Baseball Game Preview: Mount Carmel RED TORNADOES vs. Lewisburg Green Dragons

The Mount Carmel RED TORNADOES will face off against the Lewisburg Green Dragons at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Mount Carmel is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.

Mount Carmel had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt North Schuylkill on Saturday. The RED TORNADOES' pitcher stepped up to hand the Spartans a 10-0 shutout. Considering the RED TORNADOES have won three matchups by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Mount Carmel let Lukas Carpenter and Jon Morgante run wild. Carpenter went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run, while Morgante went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Morgante is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Owen Ramirez, who earned three runs and one stolen base.

Mount Carmel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Schuylkill only posted an OBP of .250.

Meanwhile, Lewisburg came up short against Midd-West on Wednesday, falling 17-4. The loss continues a trend for the Green Dragons in their meetings with the Mustangs: they've now lost five in a row.

Lewisburg saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin Shannon, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Lewisburg's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6-1. As for Mount Carmel, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mount Carmel has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lewisburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Mount Carmel took their win against Lewisburg in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 19-3 score. Will the RED TORNADOES repeat their success, or do the Green Dragons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
