Basketball Game Preview: Minerva Lions vs. Marlington Dukes

The Minerva Lions will square off against the Marlington Dukes at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Minerva has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Minerva is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Claymont 80-53 on Monday. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Marlington entered their tilt with Harrison Central on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They skirted past the Huskies 49-46. Given the Dukes' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 240th, while the Huskies are ranked 610th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The win got Minerva back to even at 4-4. As for Marlington, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.

Minerva beat Marlington 60-47 in their previous meeting back in January. Will Minerva repeat their success, or does Marlington have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
