Baseball Game Preview: Oak Park Eagles vs. de Toledo Jaguars

The Oak Park Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the de Toledo Jaguars at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Oak Park was handed a 17-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over Windward. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Henry Rizzotti spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Oak Park's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Luke Sater, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

De Toledo came out on top against Buckley on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run second inning. The Jaguars never let the Griffins get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Jaguars, who have now won three games in a row.

Oak Park's win bumped their record up to 7-13-1. As for de Toledo, their victory bumped their record up to 10-12.

Oak Park came out on top in a nail-biter against de Toledo when the teams last played back in April of 2022, sneaking past 6-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
