Luke Burns posted a new career-high in strikeouts on Tuesday. As a matter of fact, he produced his best game of the campaign: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Montgomery County is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-13 otherwise.

Burns' strong effort led Montgomery County over Twiggs County and he'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Montgomery County is a perfect 3-0 against Twiggs County going back to March of 2024, a lead they'll look to extend.
