Basketball Recap: Corona del Sol Takes a Loss

Corona del Sol was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Millennium Tigers 100-19. While losing is never fun, the Aztecs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 235th, while the Tigers are ranked first).

Millennium's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Destiny Lunan, who went 11 for 21 on her way to 24 points in addition to eight boards and six steals. The match was Lunan's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Brownlee, who went 7 of 14 en route to 16 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

Corona del Sol's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Millennium, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4.

Corona del Sol didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 70-22 loss against Xavier College Prep on the 10th. As for Millennium, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 83-58 victory against Desert Vista on the 10th.
