Softball Game Preview: Forsan Buffaloes vs. Sonora Broncos

For the second straight game, Forsan will face off against Sonora. The Buffaloes will face off against the Broncos on Saturday. Forsan is coming into the contest hot, having won their last nine games.

Forsan's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Sonora 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Buffaloes, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Makayla Garza's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Forsan let Ary'Anna Mealing and Maddie Roach run wild. Mealing went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Roach went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Mealing is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey Kinsey, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Forsan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sonora only managed one hit.

Forsan pushed their record up to 12-9 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Sonora, their loss dropped their record down to 15-10.

Saturday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Forsan has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .498. However, it's not like Sonora struggles in that department as they've averaged .483. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
