IV Section V recap October 22, 2013
Payson's Wyatt Chapman recorded the longest rushing play in IV Section V this season in his game against Snowflake last week. Chapman ran for 85 yards on the play and finished with 200 on the day as his team lost to the Lobos.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Show Low beat Fountain Hills 40-10. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Show Low's dynamic duo of Colby Maxwell and Bret VanWinkle proved to be unstoppable against the Falcons, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Maxwell threw for 406 yards and 4 touchdowns and VanWinkle had 134 yards receiving. Trevor Solomon helped Show Low's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 105 yards.
He was 21-32 with 2 interceptions.
The leading receiver in the league this season is Tyus Sarnowski. The Payson star has 40 catches for 753 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Snowflake takes on second place Show Low. Last week, Snowflake beat Payson, while Randy Ricedorff's team defeated Fountain Hills.
Entering into this week's contest against Globe, Luke McDermott is short just 174 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season. Accruing a total of 17 touchdowns this year, McDermott has thrown for 1,826 yards with 4 interceptions.
The league will see a high scoring game when the Cougars and Ron Tenney's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Show Low comes in having scored 343 this season, while the Lobos have scored 277. The Cougars scored 40 points last week as they topped the Falcons.
The Tigers lost to Blue Ridge 47-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
