Preview: South Grand Prairie Warriors vs. Bowie Volunteers
The South Grand Prairie Warriors will be playing at home against the Bowie Volunteers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with South Grand Prairie sitting on three straight wins and Bowie on four.
Last Friday, South Grand Prairie was able to grind out a solid win over Arlington, taking the game 24-17.
South Grand Prairie can attribute much of their success to Daylon Brooks, who rushed for 37 yards and a touchdown, and Jaden Stanley, who gained 199 total yards and two touchdowns. Stanley's longest reception was for an incredible 72 yards.
Meanwhile, Bowie beat Arlington 28-21 two weeks ago.
Bowie's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Darrion Bowers led the charge by rushing for 106 yards and two touchdowns. Bowers is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rafeald Campbell, who gained 142 total yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped South Grand Prairie to 3-5 and Bowie to 5-2.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. South Grand Prairie has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 175.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Bowie struggles in that department as they've been even better at 244.6 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Everything went South Grand Prairie's way against Bowie in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as South Grand Prairie made off with a 33-13 victory. Does South Grand Prairie have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bowie turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
