Basketball Game Preview: Swansboro Pirates vs. West Carteret Patriots

Swansboro is on a three-game streak of home wins, while West Carteret is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Swansboro Pirates will host the West Carteret Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Swansboro will be strutting in after a victory while West Carteret will be coming in after a defeat.

If Swansboro beats West Carteret with 38 points on Wednesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Swansboro beat White Oak on Friday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 38-19.

Meanwhile, West Carteret came up short against Croatan on Thursday and fell 60-53. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th, while the Cougars are ranked 113th).

Swansboro is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.8 points over those games. As for West Carteret, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8.
