Football Recap: Ranyla Jackson's Menacing Defense Leads Wildwood over Tampa Catholic

Wildwood had won two straight road games and Zoey Brown did her part to make it three on Thursday. Wildwood took down the Tampa Catholic Crusaders 26-12 thanks in part to Brown, who rushed for 77 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 167 yards on 15 of 22 attempts. She also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack, making two total tackles, and defending three passes in addition to snagging an interception.

One reason for the win was Wildwood's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Ranyla Jackson was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two herself.

When it comes to explaining why Tampa Catholic lost, don't look at Ava Kopp. Despite the final result, she rushed for 43 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 131 yards and one TD.

Wildwood's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Tampa Catholic, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-3.

Coming up, Wildwood will take on Leesburg at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Wildwood is facing Leesburg at the right time seeing as Leesburg is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Tampa Catholic, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 19-0 win against Lakewood Ranch on the 28th.
