Not much got past Madesyn Meadows, who gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Marquez off the board. Meadows has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Verdugo Hills secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Lauren Brink, who went 1-for-4 with one run.
Meanwhile, Eagle Rock waltzed into their contest on Friday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Polar Bears.
Marcella Terrazas was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Terrazas was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Stephanie Gras, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Verdugo Hills' record now sits at 12-9-1. As for Eagle Rock, their record is now 17-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Verdugo Hills has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Eagle Rock struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Verdugo Hills came up short against Eagle Rock when the teams last played back in May of 2025, falling 3-0. Can the Dons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
