Recap: Spring Woods Tigers vs. Stratford Spartans
The Spring Woods Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight defeat. They fell 59-48 to Stratford. While losing is never fun, Spring Woods can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 953rd, while the Spartans are ranked 462nd).
Spring Woods' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anjalena Salazar, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Salazar also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Adriana Castro, who scored 14 points.
Spring Woods has not been sharp recently as the team's lost ten of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season. As for Stratford, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-11.
Spring Woods will head out on the road to face off against the Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Stratford, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Rams at 6:30 p.m.
