Baseball Game Preview: Stroudsburg Mountaineers vs. Palmerton Blue Bombers

The Stroudsburg Mountaineers will head out to face off against the Palmerton Blue Bombers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Stroudsburg comes in on five and Palmerton on six.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Stroudsburg and Pleasant Valley have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Saturday. The Mountaineers came out on top against the Bears by a score of 6-3.

Damian Budhai was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Meanwhile, Palmerton hadn't done well against Northwestern Lehigh recently (they were 1-7-1 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Blue Bombers had just enough and edged out the Tigers 5-4. The game was the first time the Blue Bombers have beaten the Tigers on their field since March 28, 2023.

The team relied heavily on Mason George, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Luke Matkso was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run.

Palmerton's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-6. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Stroudsburg, their victory bumped their record up to 13-5.

Stroudsburg skirted past Palmerton 9-8 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mountaineers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
