Basketball Recap: Jakailynn Carter Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Randolph County

Saks lost to Randolph County back in January of 2020, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Saks Wildcats blew past the Randolph County Tigers 61-38. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while the Tigers are ranked 244th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Saks' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jakailynn Carter, who went 7 of 14 on her way to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sania Angel, who posted 14 points in addition to eight steals and six boards.

Saks is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for Randolph County, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

The future could be bright for both Saks and Randolph County: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Saks will try to hand Wellborn their fourth-straight loss when the two meet at 5:00 p.m. on December 17th. Similarly, Randolph County will look to extend Weaver's five-game losing streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
