Basketball Game Preview: Godby Cougars vs. P.K. Yonge Blue Wave

Having just played yesterday, the Godby Cougars will get right back to it and host the P.K. Yonge Blue Wave at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Godby took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Bay with a sharp 62-36 victory. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 26 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, P.K. Yonge made easy work of Santa Fe on Tuesday and carried off a 56-30 win.

P.K. Yonge found their leader in sophomore Matilda Parrish, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 boards. Those 23 points gave Parrish a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jada Adderly, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

Godby's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-6. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.7 points per game. As for P.K. Yonge, their win bumped their record up to 5-18.

Godby lost to P.K. Yonge at home by a decisive 53-38 margin in their previous matchup back in November of 2023. Can Godby avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
