Basketball Recap: Aguilar Triumphs

Moffat came into Thursday's contest looking for another win against Aguilar, but Matthew Gonzales wouldn't allow it. The Aguilar Wildcats came out on top against the Moffat Cowboys by a score of 51-44 on Thursday thanks in part to Gonzales, who dropped a double-double with 26 points and 19 boards. That makes it six consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Aguilar's points.

Caiden Gomez was another key player, putting up 12 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 40% in the last four games he's played.

Despite the loss, Moffat still got an impressive performance from Preston Heater, who posted 25 points and five steals. That was a full 56.8% of Moffat's points, marking the fifth time in a row Heater has earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Chase Shellabarger, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Aguilar's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-9. As for Moffat, they now have a losing record of 9-10.

Looking ahead, Aguilar will head out to take on Cripple Creek-Victor at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Moffat does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
