Softball Recap: Zane Trace Pioneers vs. Ironton Fighting Tigers
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Zane Trace walked away with it. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Ironton Fighting Tigers on Wednesday, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pioneers have posted since April 7th.
Brynn Wipert was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, Reagan Arthurs was excellent, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
Zane Trace's record now sits at 9-17. As for Ironton, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-7.
As of now, neither Zane Trace nor the Fighting Tigers have any future games scheduled.
