Baseball Recap: Marion County Comes Up Short

Marion County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hixson Wildcats. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2022.

Marion County saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eli Blevins, who went 2-for-4 with two runs. Blevins is becoming a predictor of the Warriors' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 11-12 when he doesn't).

Marion County's defeat dropped their record down to 15-13. As for Hixson, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 22-5.

Coming up, Marion County will face off against Sale Creek at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hixson, they will take on Red Bank at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lions will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight.
