Softball Preview: Florence Huskies vs. Woodland Park Panthers

Florence hasn't had much luck against Woodland Park recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Florence Huskies will be staying on the road to face off against the Woodland Park Panthers at 3:30 p.m. Florence is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11 runs per game this season.

Florence is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Rocky Ford just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost 13-3 to the Meloneers. While the Huskies didn't have the best season last year (they finished 0-23), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

The dominant performance also gave Renteria a new career-high in hits. Rylee Schoendaller was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Woodland Park kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Florence's loss dropped their record down to 6-3-1. As for Woodland Park, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-10.

Woodland Park's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Florence has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.7 strikeouts per game.
