Softball Recap: Fowler Snags 15th Victory in Last 16 Games

Fowler barely beat Fresno Christian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Redcats blew past the Eagles 21-2 on Tuesday. The Redcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Izzy Lopez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with four runs, two triples, and three RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Danika Serrano, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Andreya Mendoza was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Fowler was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .606. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in 12 consecutive contests.

Fowler is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Fresno Christian, they dropped their record down to 4-12 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, Fowler will challenge Liberty at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hawks will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Redcats surely won't give up without a fight. Fresno Christian will be paying especially close attention to Fowler's matchup: after Fowler faces off against Liberty, they'll take on Fresno Christian again at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
