Softball Recap: Bishop Mcnamara Has No Trouble Against St. Mary's Ryken

Bishop McNamara made up a huge gap compared to their last game against St. Mary's Ryken, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Bishop McNamara blew past St. Mary's Ryken 12-1 on Wednesday. With that win, the Mustangs brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Koryn Otey was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Bishop McNamara got a massive performance out of Christina Brown, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. Those two triples gave Brown a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaslyne Ivey, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Bishop McNamara was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

The victory got Bishop McNamara back to even at 2-2. As for St. Mary's Ryken, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Coming up, Bishop McNamara will welcome Brush at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for St. Mary's Ryken, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Morgantown at 11:15 a.m. on Friday.
