Softball Recap: Southern Wells Takes a Loss

Southern Wells is still winless after their contest against Winchester Community on Saturday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Golden Falcons. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Raiders have suffered since April 6, 2024.

Alexis Pennington spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Southern Wells saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Morgan Jones, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Southern Wells' loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Winchester Community, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Southern Wells didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 13-0 defeat against Norwell on the 14th. As for Winchester Community, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 10-7 win against Union County on the 15th.
