Recap: Elevation Prep Academy Honey Badgers vs. Charlotte Elite Academy Soldiers
After a string of three wins, the Elevation Prep Academy Honey Badgers's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell to Charlotte Elite Academy 75-71. While losing is never fun, Elevation Prep Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 325th, while Charlotte Elite Academy is ranked 107th).
Several Honey Badgers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was IZEIR MAYBEN, who scored 17 points along with seven assists and six steals. MAYBEN hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of JAYLEN THOMAS, who scored 18 points along with two steals.
Charlotte Elite Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jordan King, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. King also posted eight assists for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Antoine Boone, who scored 16 points.
Elevation Prep Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Charlotte Elite Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elevation Prep Academy will challenge Oak Hill Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Charlotte Elite Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face Central Carolina Prep at 7:30 p.m. on January 15th. Hopefully Central Carolina Prep focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Friday.
