Baseball Recap: Sunnyslope Vikings vs. Desert Ridge Jaguars

With a playoff game on the line, Sunnyslope rose to the challenge on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Desert Ridge Jaguars as they made off with a 10-4 win. The victory was some much needed relief for Sunnyslope as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Sunnyslope got a great performance from Diego Lovesy as he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

At the plate, Sunnyslope let Connor Keogh and Cooper Shillington loose on the outfield. Keogh went 2-for-4 with a home run, while Shillington scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Braeden Kuenne, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Sunnyslope's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 16-11. As for Desert Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-14-1.

Sunnyslope will head out on the road to take on Brophy College Prep at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Brophy College Prep's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Sunnyslope's hitters will have their work cut out for them. Desert Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
