Basketball Recap: Union Victorious

If Hundred wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Union, they should've done a better job of containing Braylon Ward. The Union Tigers strolled past the Hundred Hornets with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 70-52 for which the team can thank Ward, who dropped a double-double with 37 points and 20 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Union's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Gaither, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten boards. Union is 4-1 when Gaither posts ten or more rebounds, but 6-9 otherwise.

The win got Union back to even at 10-10. As for Hundred, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-14.

Coming up, Union will welcome Pocahontas County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hundred, they will challenge Cameron at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hundred has given up an average of 62.4 points per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.
