The York Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 14th straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 84-48 loss at the hands of South Pointe. York was down 65-39 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

When it comes to explaining why York lost, one person who can't be blamed is Bryson Steele. Despite the final result, he scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Davis, who scored five points along with five rebounds.

South Pointe got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ry'Darius Hill out in front who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Louis Howie was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with four steals.

South Pointe used a slightly different lineup for their bout with York. And. Landon Hawkins made the most of the opportunity, scoring six points along with six rebounds and two steals. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

York's defeat was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-18. As for South Pointe, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-16.
