Baseball Recap: Delta Extends Home Winning Streak to Eight

Delta never let their opponents score on Saturday. They blew past the Basalt Longhorns 10-0. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Longhorns: they've now won seven in a row.

Ty Reed made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Deacon Shean, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Joe Black was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

Delta hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Basalt struck out nine times.

Delta's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Basalt, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.
