Volleyball Recap: Coosa Eagles vs. Fannin County Rebels
Coosa's tournament run continued when they took on Fannin County on Saturday. The Eagles fell just short of the Rebels by a score of 2-1. While the Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Rebels 25-20 in the first set.
Coosa started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-10, 15-11.
Whitley Sharpe paced Coosa's offense, picking up eight kills. Sharpe got some help from Anna Francis and her nine assists. Carleigh Reece and Ava King kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.
Fannin County found their leader in sophomore Amberly Patterson, who had 12 digs and one assist.
Coosa has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Fannin County, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-7.
Coincidentally, Coosa and Fannin County will both be playing Murray County the next time they take the court. The Eagles will host the Indians on Saturday, while the Rebels will play them later in the day, at 11:00 a.m.
