Basketball Recap: Uri Dennis Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Citrus Valley

Moreno Valley hadn't done well against Citrus Valley recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Vikings walked away with a 56-46 victory over the Blackhawks. For the Vikings, this counts as revenge for the 49-42 win the Blackhawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2024.

Moreno Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Uri Dennis out in front who shot 53% from the field on his way to 22 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Dennis' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Zyetice Hayes, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 12 points.

Moreno Valley has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 63.5 points this season. As for Citrus Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Moreno Valley will take on Summit in a tournament on Friday. As for Citrus Valley, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Jurupa Hills at 3:00 p.m. on December 1.
