Soccer Game Preview: Deer Valley vs. Heritage

The Deer Valley Wolverines will head out on the road to square off against the Heritage Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Deer Valley's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Last Tuesday, Deer Valley came up short against Antioch and fell 3-1. That's two games in a row now that the Wolverines have lost by exactly two goals.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last contest, Heritage made sure to put some goals up on the board against Arroyo on Tuesday. They walked away with a 4-2 victory over the Dons. The win was all the more spectacular given the Patriots' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 715th, while the Dons are ranked 284th).

Heritage hit Arroyo with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Chiemezie Nomeh (2), Nick Moreland, and James Purvey.

Heritage's victory bumped their record up to 3-4-1. As for Deer Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Deer Valley might still be hurting after the 5-1 defeat they got from Heritage in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Deer Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
