Softball Recap: Portland Takes a Loss

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Portland's offense. They came up short against the Cromwell Panthers on Wednesday, falling 12-0. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Highlanders' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Portland saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rowyn Kootz, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Portland has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Cromwell, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-6.

Coming up, Portland will host Vinal RVT at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Highlanders will need to watch out since the Hawks have now posted at least ten runs in their last six games. As for Cromwell, they will head out on the road to challenge Morgan at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
