Basketball Recap: St. Joseph Central Comes Up Short

St. Joseph Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They took a blow against the Wayne Pioneers, falling 58-20. The matchup marked the Irish's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, St. Joseph Central saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Amira Stubblefield posted six points and seven rebounds.

Wayne's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from MiKayla Stacy, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten boards. Jaycelyn Sammons was another key player, shooting 50% from the field en route to 15 points and four steals.

St. Joseph Central's defeat dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Wayne, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4.

St. Joseph Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 41-36 loss against Wahama on the 28th. As for Wayne, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-34 victory against Winfield on the 22nd.
