Basketball Recap: Madelyn Lemly Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Triad

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Riverside's strategy against Triad on Tuesday. The Pirates came out on top against the Cardinals by a score of 58-32 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Riverside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Madelyn Lemly, who posted 13 points along with eight boards and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Lemly a new career-high in assists (four). Emilee Robinson was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals.

Riverside was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Triad only posted seven.

Triad lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Taylor Queen, who scored 11 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Emma Bialecki, who put up seven points.

The win got Riverside back to even at 1-1. As for Triad, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Riverside and Triad will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Pirates will face off against rival Bethel at 6:00 p.m. on the 4th. Meanwhile, Triad is set to take on their familiar foe West Jefferson at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
