Greeley West suffers sixth straight loss on the road

Recap: Greeley West Spartans vs. Mead Mavericks

The Greeley West Spartans won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Wednesday. They were beaten by Mead 73-39. Greeley West has not had much luck with Mead recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jacob Flores, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Andrew Zepeda was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.

Mead's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matthew Angelo, who scored 15 points along with five assists and two steals. Angelo continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic McLawrence, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.

Greeley West bumped their record down to 2-9 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Mead, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.

Greeley West will be playing in front of their home fans against Windsor at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Windsor presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Greeley West in Colorado (Windsor is ranked 45th, while Greeley West is ranked 275th). As for Mead, they will head out on the road to challenge Silver Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Silver Creek comes in on three and Mead on four.
