Baseball Recap: Livermore Comes Up Short

Livermore fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Dublin on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Gaels by a score of 6-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Gaels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-2 back in March.

Livermore got a good showing from Erik Schock, who tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

At the plate, Livermore saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Maas, who scored a run while going 1-for-5.

This is the second loss in a row for Livermore and nudges their season record down to 10-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 13-3 Foothill (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 84.7% over those games). As for Dublin, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-2.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Livermore is set to take on their familiar foe Amador Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cowboys 3.7, the Dons 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Dublin will square off against rival Foothill at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
