Baseball Game Preview: James Monroe Mavericks vs. Independence Patriots

The James Monroe Mavericks will venture away from home to square off against the Independence Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. James Monroe is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

On Monday, James Monroe came up short against Greenbrier East and fell 10-6.

Cameron Crislip was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Peyton Gardinier was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Independence had just enough and edged out St. Albans 6-5 on Friday.

Independence's victory bumped their record up to 4-8-1. As for James Monroe, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.

James Monroe might still be hurting after the 8-0 loss they got from Independence in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can the Mavericks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
