Softball Game Preview: Pelion Panthers vs. Strom Thurmond Rebels

Pelion hasn't had much luck against Strom Thurmond recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Pelion will head out to square off against Strom Thurmond at 7:00 p.m.

Pelion fell victim to Saluda and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Tigers, falling 11-0. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Strom Thurmond has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.8 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 14-13 victory over American Leadership Academy. Winning may never get old, but the Rebels sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Strom Thurmond got a massive performance out of Jules Sides, who scored four runs while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave Sides a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addyson Harrison, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and five RBI.

Strom Thurmond was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Pelion's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Strom Thurmond, their record is now 8-2.

Pelion might still be hurting after the 14-0 loss they got from Strom Thurmond in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Pelion avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
