Baseball Game Preview: Crook County Cowboys vs. Caldera

For the second straight game, Crook County will face off against Caldera. The Cowboys will look to defend their home field on Friday against Caldera at 4:30 p.m. Crook County has given up an average of 8.7 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Crook County came up short against Caldera on Wednesday, falling 13-6. The loss continues a trend for the Cowboys in their meetings with Caldera: they've now lost three in a row.

For Caldera's part, Peyton Borges spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on six hits. Borges also tossed a walk, which is notable because Caldera is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ty Hattenhauer, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Carson Downing was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

The win got Caldera back to even at 10-10. As for Crook County, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-15.
