Basketball Recap: Spearville Skates Past Pawnee Heights with Ease

Spearville waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 66-12 win over the Pawnee Heights Tigers. The matchup marked the Lancers' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Spearville was led to victory by Ian Melendez and Layson Wheaton. Melendez went 6 for 11 on his way to 14 points and five steals, while Wheaton went 6 of 7 on his way to 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aydin J Ruiz, who posted nine points and three steals.

Spearville was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pawnee Heights only posted three assists.

Spearville's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Pawnee Heights, they dropped their record down to 0-6 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Spearville and Meade will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 7:00 p.m. on January 7th. One thing working in Spearville's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Pawnee Heights, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on South Central at 8:00 p.m. on January 3rd. South Central will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Pawnee Heights surely won't give up without a fight.
