Basketball Recap: Archimedes Makes It Six in a Row at Home

Archimedes took a 23-point defeat the last time they faced off against South Bronx, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Archimedes had just enough and edged the South Bronx Phoenix out 41-38. Given Archimedes' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while South Bronx is ranked 304th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Archimedes' win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.7 points per game. As for South Bronx, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.

Archimedes will welcome Riverdale/Kingsbridge Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Archimedes' defense has only allowed 27.2 points per game this season, so Riverdale/Kingsbridge Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for South Bronx, they will head out on the road to face off against Bathgate at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Bronx is facing Bathgate at the right time seeing as Bathgate is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
