Basketball Recap: Sotomayor Skates Past Torres with Ease

Sotomayor won the last time they faced Torres and things went their way on Thursday too. The Sotomayor Wolves breezed by the Torres Toros to the tune of 81-43. With the Wolves ahead 44-18 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Bryan Hernandez was his usual excellent self, going 9 for 12 on his way to 20 points along with eight boards and five assists. He has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jorge Penaloza, who posted 11 points in addition to six assists and four steals.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Sotomayor was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2023.

Sotomayor is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 11-11 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.8 points per game. As for Torres, their defeat was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-9.

Sotomayor has already played their next contest, a 66-51 loss against Marquez on the 27th. Torres has also already played their next game (against Maywood CES), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
