Football Recap: Ridge Point Starts Season with Win Against Clear Springs + How To Watch

Ridge Point gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They breezed past the Clear Springs Chargers to the tune of 62-23. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Chargers are ranked 110th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ridge Point's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brody Bartee, who rushed for 40 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 90 yards and one TD. Another rusher making a difference was Brady Nguyen, who rushed for 53 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Ridge Point, adding 15 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Bailen George, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

When it comes to explaining why Clear Springs lost, don't look at Daran Bolden. Despite the final result, he rushed for 98 yards on only 11 carries. Bolden's longest rush was for an impressive 69 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Ridge Point wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 34-10 victory against Fulshear on the 4th. As for Clear Springs, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 17-14 win against Heights on the 5th.
