Baseball Recap: Newbury Park Comes Up Short

Newbury Park might've scored the first runs on Friday, but it was Westlake who claimed the real prize. The Panthers came up short against the Athletics, falling 15-4. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Athletics this season, with their most recent loss being a 10-3 defeat on Thursday.

Carson Richter was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. Max Fennewald also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Newbury Park and nudges their season record down to 16-11. As for Westlake, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-8.

Looking ahead, Newbury Park will be playing in front of their home fans against Oxnard at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Westlake does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
