Football Game Preview: Fox Chapel Foxes vs. Plum Mustangs

Fox Chapel and Plum are an even 3-3 against one another since October of 2016, but not for long. The Foxes will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses apiece.

Things were looking good for Fox Chapel after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 21-10 to Franklin Regional. While the Foxes didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Panthers 7-0 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Fox Chapel saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Gianni Fusaro rushed for 63 yards and one score. Fusaro was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 64 yards.

Meanwhile, Plum and North Hills were almost perfectly matched up on Friday, but Plum suffered a 14-13 defeat. The matchup marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Fox Chapel will have to contain Elijah Jackson as he made an impact in Plum's last game. He rushed for 131 yards and one touchdown.

Fox Chapel's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Plum, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 2-5.

Fox Chapel was dealt a bruising 49-10 loss at the hands of Plum in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Foxes, Darian Nelson (who rushed for 153 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
