Basketball Recap: Central Hawks vs. Taylor County Vikings
Central was the 66-57 winner over Taylor County when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Central Hawks fell 69-56 to the Taylor County Vikings on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 382nd, while the Vikings are ranked 167th).
Loss or not, Central got some senior leadership from Sema J Copeland and Demarcus White. Copeland posted 24 points, while White scored 22 points.
Taylor County was led to victory by Brayden Ellison and Marcal Myles. Ellison had 18 points, while Myles earned 14 points. The game was Ellison's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chan Lumpkin, who put up eight points.
This is the second loss in a row for Central and nudges their season record down to 12-9. As for Taylor County, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-3.
Central has already played their next contest, a 70-38 win against Webster County on the 31st. As for Taylor County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 72-35 victory against Furlow Charter School on the 31st.
