Basketball Game Preview: Parkersburg South Patriots vs. Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers

The Parkersburg South Patriots will head out on the road to take on the Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.

On Wednesday, Parkersburg South lost to Wayne at home by a 62-43 margin. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while the Pioneers are ranked sixth).

Meanwhile, everything went Buckhannon-Upshur's way against Fairmont Senior on Wednesday as Buckhannon-Upshur made off with a 46-23 victory. The Buccaneers haven't had any issues with the Polar Bears recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Buckhannon-Upshur's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Parkersburg South, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Parkersburg South against Buckhannon-Upshur when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 71-37 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Parkersburg South since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
