Softball Recap: Russell County Starts off Right with Win over Washington County

Russell County took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. They put the hurt on the Washington County Commanders with a sharp 18-1 win.

Addison Hart was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Hart was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Russell County got a massive performance out of Rylen McGowan, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits McGowan has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jaylee Roy, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double.

Looking ahead, Russell County is headed away from home for the first time to challenge Glasgow at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Washington County, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Bethlehem at 6:00 p.m. on March 17th.
