Football Recap: Blacksburg Takes a Loss + How To Watch

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Blacksburg can now relate to. They were dealt a 50-6 defeat at the hands of the Chester Cyclones on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 215th, while the Cyclones are ranked 97th).

Chester got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Darriyarn Baxley out in front who rushed for 88 yards and one touchdown. Those 88 rushing yards gave Baxley a new career-high. Another back making a difference was Jakobe Starks-Wright, who rushed for 66 yards and one TD on only six carries.

Blacksburg is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10. As for Chester, they pushed their record up to 7-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Blacksburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Chester, they will challenge Batesburg-Leesville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cyclones will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least 31 points in their last five matchups.
