Basketball Game Preview: Freeman Mavericks vs. Thomas Jefferson Vikings

The Freeman Mavericks will head out to square off against the Thomas Jefferson Vikings at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 60-23, which was the final score in Freeman's tilt against Glen Allen on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Mavericks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while the Jaguars are ranked ninth).

Meanwhile, Thomas Jefferson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 70-4 loss at the hands of Deep Run. The game marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Freeman and nudges their season record down to 13-8. As for Thomas Jefferson, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-14.

Everything came up roses for Freeman against Thomas Jefferson when the teams last played back in January, as the team secured a 59-18 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Freeman since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
