Football Recap: Drew Ashbury and Tayshaun Johnson Pace Kempsville Defense + How To Watch

Kempsville lost against Green Run back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Chiefs took a 28-17 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Stallions. While losing is never fun, the Chiefs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Stallions are ranked 32nd).

When it comes to explaining why Kempsville lost, don't look at Camir Croom. Despite the final result, he picked up 182 receiving yards and one score.

Even if they lost, Kempsville's defense still kept up the pressure with six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Drew Ashbury and Tayshaun Johnson, who racked up four sacks between them. Kempsville got some further help from Jason Galloway: he picked up a sack and made seven total tackles (3.0 for loss).

The defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 2-2. As for Green Run, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
